An evening full of knowledge and surprises on the palate. The tasting held on Monday night was a fascinating experience, our guests had the chance to sample five Irish whiskies of which some are rare. Hosted by Whiskiology, a platform founded by Jeremy Chu, aim to gather like minded whisky enthusiasts and academics to fill the intellectual gap in whisky appreciation.
Irish whiskey is typically made from a blend of malted and unmalted barley, which is then triple-distilled for a smoother taste. Irish whiskey is known for its distinctive flavor profile, which is often described as being more approachable and less smoky than Scotch whisky. Through this event, our guests tasted something rather interesting. All five whiskies were single malts, which is not the average with Irish whiskey making. There were flavours of coriander, umami, mango, mineralty and many more.
In recent years, the Irish whiskey industry has experienced significant growth, with an increasing number of distilleries opening up in Ireland. This growth has been driven by a growing global demand for premium and craft spirits, as well as the rise of the cocktail culture.
