Myths, Malts & Masterpieces: Unveiling "The Legend of the White Snake" with HKMPA and William Kan
March 13, 2026

We had the privilege of joining the Hong Kong Minor Works Promotion Association (香港小型工程推廣協會) for their Spring Banquet celebration. Set beneath crystal chandeliers and surrounded by industry leaders, engineers, and professionals, the evening merged structural precision with liquid craftsmanship.
Making the celebration truly memorable, we officially unveiled the latest milestone in our independent bottling journey: The Legend of the White Snake (白蛇) 13 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, presented in collaboration with celebrated contemporary artist and film director William Kan.
The Spotlight Single Cask: "The Legend of the White Snake" (Glen Garioch 2011 13 Year Old)
The Curation & Blueprint: Drawn from single cask #225 and bottled at a natural cask strength of 56.2% ABV with natural color and non-chill filtration, this limited release yielded just 223 individually numbered bottles. Distilled in October 2011 at Oldmeldrum’s historic Glen Garioch Distillery, the spirit spent 13 years maturing across American and European oak casks.
The Artistic Collaboration: Continuing our mission to unite fine spirits with contemporary visual arts, the bottle features bespoke artwork by William Kan. Drawing inspiration from the timeless Chinese folklore of the White Snake, William's intricate visual styling and bold calligraphy adorn the front and back labels, embodying both mythical elegance and raw liquid energy.
The Profile: Honeyed, full-bodied, and elegantly spiced with a gentle whisper of smoke.
The Tasting Notes:
Nose: Brilliant amber in the glass, opening with welcoming aromas of toasted malt, warm heather honey, creamy toffee, dried apricots, and plump raisins, deepened by dashes of cinnamon and nutmeg.
Palate: A robust, full-bodied harmony of rich butterscotch, baked apples, and creamy vanilla, structured by the dual influence of American and European oak.
Finish: Elegant and persistent, carrying a delicate touch of gentle smoke, lingering malty sweetness, and a fine crack of peppery spice.
Sharing a single cask of this caliber across bustling banquet tables fostered an immediate sense of camaraderie. While our presentation walked guests through the fundamental science of Scottish distillation and cask maturation, raising glasses of the high-proof Glen Garioch sparked animated conversations on the natural harmony between engineering craftsmanship and fine art.
A sincere thank you to the leadership and members of the Hong Kong Minor Works Promotion Association for their warm hospitality, and to William Kan for lending his creative vision to our casks.
May your year ahead be blessed with mythical strength, prosperity, and towering achievements—Here’s to legendary craft, soaring ambition, and golden pours!
